GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) Ltd. Co. has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Provincial Government of Bataan, Municipality of Orani, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Tubo-tubo Fisherfolks Association for the establishment of Baka1Bataan: an Orani Mangrove Adoption and Protection Project on June 14.
The project is part of GMEC’s CSR Program and will involve studies, preparation, information dissemination, and the development of a livelihood program to ensure the sustainability of a 5-hectare land in Brgy. Kabalutan, Orani.
“In the next five (5) years, GMEC has allocated an estimated PhP7Million for the development and maintenance of this project,” said Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) OIC Head Raphael De Leon in his speech.
Arcel Madrid, Assistant Vice President for the Community Relations Department at GMEC, also announced that there will be ongoing coordination for Corporate Social Responsibility projects, including the upcoming launch of a scholarship program in collaboration with Bataan Peninsula State University.
Representing Governor Joet Garcia, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Atty. Tony Roman highlighted, “Today, we continue to move forward in our journey towards resilience and sustainability, in line with our province’s vision of ‘Matatag na Pamilyang Bataeño’.”
Dennis Jordan, President and CEO of GNPower, emphasized, “We are proud to be part of Bataan, we are committed to making sure that Bataan will progress and we will serve the communities where we operate in and be responsible as citizens of Bataan.
In his message, Orani Mayor Bondjong Pascual thanked GMEC for choosing said town and assured that they will contribute to the shared vision of development, that is now angled on the multi-stakeholder approach.
